Franchise cricket is outpacing the world of  cricket entertainment. So much so that we have even seen some players refusing to play for their national sides in order to play for their franchise teams. 

                  This base of franchise cricket which consumes most of the cricket calendar year has produced numerous stalwarts based on their performance in the super competitive and star studded player pools. The franchise leagues also provide a platform for the cricketers to showcase their skills and prove their mettle.

                   Here is a look at the top most popular and valued cricket franchise leagues in 2022:

8# Abu Dhabi T10 League valued at est $621 million



                         Being sanctioned in 2018 by the International Cricket council, the league comprises of a 10 overs per side match and duration if of 90 minutes for the entire play. The league is getting popular since its inception and was able to garner a cumulative views of 342 million. Interesting aspect being 10 out of 11 players in a team can be overseas players.


                         Deccan Gladiators were the last tournaments winner. Some famous names include Dwayne Bravo, Tim David, Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid, Nicolas Pooran, Andre Russel, Dasun Shanaka and Eoin Morgan.

7# Lanka Premier League valued at estimated $57 million

                           Brainchild of the Sril Lanka Cricket, the Lanka Premier League was started in 2018. Jaffna Kings were the winners of the last held tournament in 2021. The estimated viewership has touched 557 million back in 2020 season. Due to ongoing economic crisis in the country Sri Lanka Cricket has stated that Lanka Premier League has been halted for now.

                      Notable names include  Chris Gayle, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Andre Russell, Mohammad Aamir and Srilankan players that represent Sri Lanka on international level.

6# Bangladesh Premier League: valued at est $120 million


                                   Formulated in the year 2012, the Bangladesh Premier League is quiet popular in south Asian region and has an active viewership of around 40 million viewers and has completed 7 successful editions. Comilla Victorians are the current champions of the league.

                  Notable names include Chris Gayle, Dawid Malan,  Andre Russel, Shoaib Malik, Sunil Narine and the international stalwarts of Bangladesh Men's cricket team.

5# Pakistan Super League - valued at est $240 million


                                        PSL got introduced in 2016 and is a high octane competition for the viewers that is held every year in the window of February and March.  The total viewership has touched a staggering 140 million viewers in 2022. Lahore Qalandars under Shaheen Shah Afridi are the current title holders of the league.


                                        Notable names apart from the international Pakistani cricket side include Tim David, Dale Steyn, Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, Moeen Ali, Rasheed Khan, Kieron Pollard, and Jason Roy.

4# Caribbean Premier League: valued at est $371 million


                                             Founded by Cricket West Indies in 2013, the Caribbean Premier League or the CPL has taken the cricket world by storm. High celebrations coupled with insane hitting in the cricket matches coupled with a fan frenzy atmosphere makes the CPL as entertaining as any sport can be. This combination of entertainment and sports has made CPL crossed 500 million viewership. 
                                              Jamaica Tallawahs are the reigning champion of the league. Apart from the West Indian cricketers the notable names include Shakib Al Hasan, Faf Du Plessis, Mathew Wade, Azam Khan, Shoaib Malik, Anrich Nortje and Wahab Riaz.

3# Vitality T20 Blast : valued at est 450 million

                                            When it comes to cricket, England seems to be the innovators of the game formats. First Test match, first ODI, first T20 and the first t20 league which is now known as Vitality T20 blast. The league has teams grouped in two or three division formats which are based on the geological area of United Kingdom. Hampshire Hawks are the current champion of the league.

                                       The limit is 2 players maximum in a match when it comes to overseas players. Apart from the English cricketers notable cricketers include Kieron Pollard, Tim David, Shan Masood, Paul Stirling, Rashid Khan, and Jimmy Neesham.

2# Big Bash League: valued at est $206 million


                             Established by Cricket Australia in 2011, the Big Bash League is now a great entertainer and the viewership has crossed 42 million viewers. Big Bash League is amongst two leagues along IPL to be featured in top 10 domestic league in average attendance. Instead of a coin toss, there is bat flip at the start of the match to decide which team bats/bowls first. There is also a Women's BBL which started from the year 2007.

                           Perth Scorchers are the current champions of the league. Apart from Australian players notable players include James Vince, Mohammad Aamir, Jason Roy, Andre Russell, Rashid Khan, Shadab Khan and Chris Jordan.

1# Indian Premier League: valued at est $6 billion


                               

                                  The league was found in 2007 by the Board of Control Cricket India. The IPL is considered the pinnacle of franchise cricket across the globe with its deep reach among the Indian and world diaspora and the investment it attracts from worldwide. The IPL has seen 15 competitions till date. Gujarat Titans are the current champions of the league. The viewership have crossed 229 million users.

                                   Apart from the Indian cricket players, notable mentions include David Warner, Kane Williamson, Andre Russell, Mathew Wade, Glen Maxwell, Liam Livingstone, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, David Miller and Faf du Plessis.
